A family-friendly show is hitting the stage soon at Salem Schools.
Seussical the Musical is the retelling of Dr. Seuss stories. It is a good fit for all three schools to participate in, attracting all different ages of audience members.
This is the first musical at Salem for Caitlin Kemker, who is the new choir teacher at Salem High School. She said there will be 44 students in the production, which will include elementary through high school students.
“With the number of snow days we have had this semester, our timeline has been accelerated,” said Kemker. “This has made our rehearsal schedule quite rigorous as we approach our performances.”
The cast members will perform their show for the elementary and middle school students on Thursday, Feb 24.
The show will be held for the public Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and March 1 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $6 and will be sold at the door.
Kemker said audiences should expect “lots of laughs, exciting musical numbers and a heartwarming story about the significance that every person holds.”
Cast member junior Sara Gray said she is most looking forward to “showing little kids the opportunities they have as they continue their education.”
Musicals include a variety of talent, including singing, dancing, the crew behind the scenes, the director and the set design.
Gray’s favorite part of being in the musical is singing and she appreciates how the set designs bring the whole play together.
