Senior Delainey Predmore was named an Indianapolis NBA All-Star Rising Star in association with the NBA All-Star Legacy Grants. This award includes a $2,400 scholarship for each Rising Star payable to the college, university, or postsecondary institution they attend after high school graduation. Predmore was nominated by the Washington County Family YMCA, who said Delainey Predmore is a driven young woman who cares deeply for her community. As stated by her nominator, "Delainey Predmore has provided years of consistent service and dedication with the Washington County Family YMCA. Before Delainey accepted a position as a Day Camp Counselor, she volunteered with our Summer Day Camp Program as a Counselor in Training.” In addition to her work with the Washington County Family YMCA, Delainey is a member of the National Honor Society and the winter guard, as well as the Salem High School marching band. She is also a member of several other school clubs and organizations, including the student council and Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD). Delainey serves her community as the current 4-H president, camp counselor at Camp Rivervale, Salem band concession stand volunteer, and Sunday school assistant teacher at Wesley Chapel UMC. Her nominator continued to say, “While I have been her direct supervisor for the past three years, I have had the opportunity to watch her grow personally, and as a member of our team. The Salem Lions boys’ basketball team will open its season Wednesday, Nov. 22, at West Washington. After their recent scrimmage to Charlestown, the boys are excited to begin their season. Jaelen Nice is the coach of the boys’ team and this is his first year coaching. He is proud of the work they have put in over the summer and believes they are a very competitive team. Nice has implemented an entirely new offense and defense this season. He is very confident in the boys’ ability to compete. After the WW game, the boys will travel to Brownstown Central to play on Nov. 28. Tickets will not be available at the door and must be purchased before. -Post by Lanie Roberts, photo by Blake Applegate

For the past several years, students in Mrs. Sebastian's class have been running a program called Mane Mugs. They take coffee and tea orders and make the drinks and deliver them to teachers on Monday mornings. Recently, students took some of the profits from the project and were able to fill up the Blessings Box on Water Street.
