Disney Club

Have you ever wanted to go Christmas shopping by yourself but you have little kids? Look no further, the Disney Club is here to save the day. Salem High School’s Disney Club is hosting a Christmas fundraiser party for elementary students in grades K-5. It will be held Dec. 16 at the high school and is for parents to drop off their kids for a few hours to go Christmas shopping.

The fundraiser was created to raise money for their trip to Disney in the spring. They are doing this so kids can come have fun and do activities and let parents drop their kids off for a few hours of relaxation or to do a little Christmas shopping

The idea for this came from the Disney parties that they have during the holiday season in the Disney parks. Club members also thought of this event because of the success of their Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event last month. They are starting with what they did right and wrong from that event and improving. Amy Whitlach is the person who runs Disney Club and said she has a lot of members participating.

“The Christmas event for Disney Club is something we are doing for kids where they get to do many Christmas-themed activities,” said club member Jaiden Campbell, adding that the club members have everything planned out so far as dates, decorations, activities, etc. They don't have food planned yet, but at the next meeting they will talk about it and see what they will bring or make at the school.

Club members will be  dressing up as gingerbread men and elves. Campbell said to see the kids so excited to see Santa is very rewarding. Their goal for the event is 50-plus kids, but there could end up being less.

“This year is going to be a blast and I am so excited for this year and years to come,” said Campbell. "I will absolutely be joining the Disney Club next year. It has been such a fun experience so far, and I can't wait to go to Disney.”

The club is doing fundraisers so they can go to Disney on spring break to learn more about the parks and get a behind-the-scenes look at Disney. Papers have been sent home with elementary students and can also be found below.
